Tim Derrick smallerTIM DERRICK (CEO) Tim Derrick co-founded Axio Power in 2007 after serving as Director of Solar Development at 3 Phases Energy from 2005-2007, building projects in California and Colorado in the rooftop and on-site solar business.  Tim came from the wind industry where he worked from 2001 to 2005 at Enron and GE Wind Energy in the utility scale wind energy business, holding leadership roles in project development, strategic marketing, commercial operations, and Six Sigma.  Prior to his career in renewable energy, Tim worked as a U.S. Army Officer, Olympic Team coach, and management consultant.  He holds a BA from Dartmouth College and an MBA from the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business.

Kevin smallerKEVIN CHRISTY (COO) Kevin Christy co-founded Axio Power in 2007 after four years with 3Phases’ solar development team, where he managed all solar technology procurement and construction. Kevin also played a critical role expanding 3Phases’s PV development from residential to commercial projects, from California to other state markets, and from cash-based to PPA-financed projects. Prior to working in renewables, Kevin’s career included software development, early-stage commercialization of fiber optic technologies, and electronics components marketing for customers such as IBM and Philips. Kevin holds a BS in Economics from California State University.

Paul smallerPAUL CURRAN (SENIOR EXECUTIVE VP) Paul Curran joined Axio Power after founding BQ Energy. Paul developed the Steel Winds project, a 20 megawatt (MW) wind farm located on an industrial brownfield in Lackawanna, New York. Paul worked for Texaco for 24 years, most recently as its Director of European Commercialization. Under his direction, Texaco developed several clean energy facilities. Of note, Mr. Curran directed the Texaco team’s development work for the 24 MW Nerefco Wind Farm now operating in Rotterdam, The Netherlands – the world’s first large-scale wind farm located inside of an operating industrial complex. Mr. Curran has a mechanical engineering degree from Columbia University and an MBA from Marist College. He is a registered Professional Engineer in New York State.

Tim Ryan smallerTIM RYAN (SENIOR EXECUTIVE VP) Tim Ryan joined Axio Power after leading BQ Energy with Paul Curran. Previous to 2002, Tim worked in the finance industry for 23 years. He syndicated bank loan facilities for over $50 billion of corporate acquisitions and 19,000 MW of power projects. He developed the 135 MW Judith Gap wind project in Montana. In 2005-2006 he led the initial efforts of Acciona Energy’s establishment of a wind energy business in the United States, with construction of the 12 MW Velva wind project in North Dakota. Tim has also overseen development of a large solar energy installation in Nevada. Mr. Ryan has a degree in economics from Bowdoin College and an MBA from New York University.

Barnaby smallerBARNABY OLSON (VP OF DEVELOPMENT, US) Barnaby Olson joined Axio Power in early 2008 from Clipper Windpower, where he managed all development activities for a 2,000 MW wind energy portfolio in the Eastern and Southern United States. At Clipper, Barnaby also managed several joint development efforts, including the $100 MM Silver Star I project co-owned with BP Alternative Energy. Prior to Clipper, Barnaby worked for GE Capital and for GE Wind Energy in Project Development and Commercial Operations. Barnaby holds a BS in Engineering from Dartmouth College, an MPA from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, and an MBA from Northwestern University, Kellogg School.

Rob MillerROB MILLER (COUNTRY MANAGER, CANADA) Rob joined Axio Power in 2008 from Canadian Hydro Developers, where he was the Project Engineer for CHD’s Ontario wind projects including Wolfe Island (a $475 million and 200 MW project) and Royal Road (18 MW). Rob also worked for Vector Wind Energy as a project manager in Eastern Ontario. Prior to working in the private sector, Rob managed municipal engineering for the municipalities of Whistler and the Greater Vancouver Regional District. Rob has over 15 years of experience with senior-level operations, construction management, and environmental engineering. He is a Professional Engineer with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Western Ontario and a MS in Environmental Engineering from the University of British Columbia.
